Ready To Burn certified

All our products, including firewood, are kiln dried to obtain the highest quality and only then are packed in boxes or in bags according to the customer's order. The high quality of our firewood has been tested and certified under the Woodsure Ready To Burn certification program.

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Ready to Burn certification scheme is run by HETAS and Woodsure, both non-profit organizations supporting cleaner and safer choices for the use of biomass and other solid fuels, appliances and associated technologies.

Woodsure has been championing the use of less polluting dry wood which is verified by its independent inspectors as having a moisture content of 20% or less, meaning it burns with less smoke than wetter wood.

All Wood Limited firewood, as well as heat logs and kindling have been Ready To Burn certified since 2023 and are therefore safe for immediate use in the UK.

All Ready To Burn certified enterprises, including SIA Wood Ltd are listed in the official Ready To Burn website: https://www.readytoburn.org/consumers/find-a-supplier/

Harvesting

The major varieties of kiln-dried timber available from Wood Limited for deliveries across Europe and UK are Birch, Ash, Oak & Alder. Depending on the requirements, all types of firewood and timblogs are also available naturally dried, either separated by variety or as a mixed order.
The timber is cut fresh from plantations, then hauled to the sawmill, where it is cut, quartered and stacked. From here (depending on the customers order) it is loaded into kilning racks for drying or packaged fresh.
Quartering the timber allows for easier end user handling, requires less energy for kilning, and ensures even drying and better quality assurance.
